DIGI PACK

I have decided to have my images for the digipack close up as this allows the buyer to see the artists face. Along side this my digipack research also mainly had close up of the artists.

The is my front cover, I have decided to have a mid shot of Gabi with quite simple but interesting font this I thought would draw in a buy and fan with the artist wearing black and there being a contrasting back ground this allows the artist to stand out however allow the overall look to still be interesting. I have also added the parental advisory which then informs the buyer that there is songs on the album with explicit content.

For the back cover I have used the same idea as the front I have brightened and contrast the photo which has made the background stand out against Gabi who is again wearing all black. I have used the same front as the front cover for the tracking list but have made it in a smaller text. I have also added our group logo and the copyright message which is then adding copyright to the owner of the song and us. 

 

 

This is my final digi pack I have decided to make mine brightly coloured and have chosen to stick with the urban look with the graffiti and urban shots of the star.

whilst we where on location filming for the music video I took my camera along with me and have created mini Photoshoot at each location. I did this as I felt it would be useful to use for the digipak and would mean that we would have photos from each shoot as we was filming rather than having to go out and recreate some things for purposes of the digipak.

because our video is about being free and freedom in and around the urban location in London. I tried to create a feeling of being free whilst also trying to capture the urban feelings and surrounding around her. I didn't want to have to much of a set up when taking the photos as I feel this would come across as forced and prompted. I have tried to capture images where she looks more at ease and showing freedom by not looking so forced and fake in poses. I have used and thought about my composition when taking the photos to try and show as much as the urban scenes as I can within the photo without taking the focus off of Gabi. thinking about leading lines and rule of thirds has helped me still include the back ground of the image( showing the graffiti and urban locations) however not take the focus off of her. Still allowing her to be the main focus of the image.

Lady Gaga

The artwork used in Lady Gaga’s album – the fame monster is very dark and unusual, as is the image she attempts to portray herself in.  Her stage name plastered all over the case and discs in large text, showing she is thirsty for recognition and wants her name to be well known. The front cover is a large picture of Lady Gaga herself, making the CD less about the music and more about her and her image. The title of the album itself ‘the fame monster’ is evidence of her hunger for fame and fortune. And it appears that the music isn’t the main focus of her album, as oppose to an indie band that are unlikely to feature on the CD as they appear to be more about the music.

The digipak is entirely in black and white this could be an attempt to make it appear more glamorous, however this contrasts with her whacky art choice. Such as the inside cover artwork featuring a nude girl with a black bird, perhaps a hawk or crow either attached to her face or attempting to break of it. The artwork on the back of the digipak is almost a shot from a horror film, it could relate to Craig from slipknot’s mask. 

The alternative is that this album is Lady Gaga’s insight on what fame can do to people, does fame turn people into monsters

Conventions of Digipak/ Album Art

- A readable font
- Clear artwork or photos
- Front cover will have Artists name/ Albums name
- Colours match genre of music
- Will have industry logos and sometimes has the parental advisory logo
- The outside packaging is usually card with a plastic inside
- Barcode on the back panel
- They will have folds that present photos, lyrics and hold the CD in place
- The front cover will display the album art
